About There I Went
There I Went turns your Google Maps Timeline into a map, a set of statistics and a card you can share: every country, city and trip in your history, on one screen.
Why it exists
Google moved Timeline onto phones and switched off the web version, which left no easy way to see years of travel at once. There I Went reads the export file from your phone and shows the whole picture, in any browser.
How it works
Everything happens inside your browser. Your Timeline file is never uploaded, and nothing is stored after you close the page. Country borders come from Natural Earth, place names from GeoNames, airports from OurAirports, and flag images from Twemoji (CC BY 4.0).
Who runs it
There I Went is an independent project run by Helmut Eder, in Australia. It's free to use. To cover running costs, the site may show ads; they're kept away from your results and share card.
